Rick Rosas, known to many as Neil Young's bassist, has sadly passed away. He was 65.
This news comes via Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina, who broke the sad news on Facebook this morning (November 7). Thrasher's Wheat reports that he wrote, "This I truly hate to say…another brother, friend, gentleman…has passed…lord…r.i.p… Rick Rosas…god bless and keep you my brother…"

The Los Angeles-born Rosas began playing with Young in the late '80s, appearing on a number of his albums, most recently 2009's Fork in the Road. He played live with Young just this past summer, filling in for Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot, who suffered a stroke. He also played with Shakey in incarnations of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Buffalo Springfield, and backed Young's (now ex-) wife Pegi during her musical endeavours.
Beyond his work with Young, Rosas was a successful session player and manned the bass for Joe Walsh, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ron Wood, Etta James and more.
