Nancy Whang

'The Nancy Whang Casablanca Reworks' (EP stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 18, 2014

The Juan MacLean only just released a new album, but the band's
Nancy Whang (who was also a member of LCD Soundsystem) has now gone solo with a covers EP. The Nancy Whang Casablanca Reworks can be heard now.

The EP is accurately named, since it consists of cover tunes taken from the Casablanca Records catalogue. It features versions of tunes originally performed by Donna Summer ("Working the Midnight Shift"), Dennis Parker ("Like an Eagle," which appears in both French and English forms), Parliament ("Flashlight") and Kiss ("I Was Made for Loving You").

While this is billed as a solo EP, Whang wasn't working by her lonesome, since the short collection features appearances from Etienne De Crecy, Bonar Bradberry, Drop Out Orchestra, Audiojack, and the Revenge.

The EP is out through Gomma. It's on Beatport now and will come to iTunes on September 26. Hear it below.
