Mutoid Man Sign to Sargent House for Reissue and New LP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 27, 2014

Cave In/Converge offshoot Mutoid Man's 2013 debut release Helium Head craned more than a few necks when it was issued last fall, with Exclaim! calling the EP an "eardrum-liquefying project" of "hyperactive prog-hardcore." If you missed the limited-edition pressing of the set when it first dropped, you'll now be able to pick up a repress via the band's new label home, Sargent House.

News of the signing was delivered in a press release today (May 27), with the label confirming that it will be issuing a new edition of Helium Head later this year. The record had initially been offered up on CD and vinyl through Magic Bullet Records/Nonbeliever and on cassette through Robotic Empire. Sargent House will likewise be offering up the six-song set on CD and vinyl, though the due date is still TBA.

Additionally, the label reports that Mutoid Man are prepping a full-length debut that should land sometime in 2015. Though details on the LP have not been proffered, it will be supported with some touring.

Formed in 2012 by Cave In guitarist-vocalist Steve Brodsky and Converge drummer Ben Koller, the band's current lineup also includes Nick Cageao. Ahead of the repress, you can stream their Helium Head release down below.
