Morrissey Working on New Album and Novel

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 3, 2014

Beloved indie pop master Morrissey surprised fans last year with the release of his memoirs, simply titled Autobiography. The success of that project has led the artist to start work on a new novel.

Answering questions from fans on his site, Morrissey revealed plans for the new book. "In 2013 I published my Autobiography and it has been more successful than any record I have ever released, so, yes, I am mid-way through my novel," he explained. "I have my hopes."

That's not to say Moz has given up on new music, however. "Well, we are about to record our new album, and one of the tracks is called 'Istanbul,'" he said. "It is second to Rome as my most favourite city in the world. When I'm in Istanbul I feel as if I could never die. My life is matched. I have been trying to book the Istanbul Opera House, and I long to play Ankara, Izmir and Bursa, but local promoters say I am not well-known enough."

The full Q&A write-up, which also features choice quotes like "I see no difference between eating animals and paedophilia," can be read here.
