Morrissey Says Upcoming London Gigs Will Be His "Final Ever UK Shows"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 18, 2015

Morrissey has been having some trouble on tour lately, with his vegan volitions getting violated in New York and being the victim of an alleged sexual assault at the airport in San Francisco. Now, the Smiths frontman and solo artist has claimed that his upcoming shows at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London, will be his last ever in the UK.

Moz is slated to play on September 20 and 21 at the aforementioned venue in support of his most recent record World Peace Is None of Your Business, but he's citing lack of interest from record labels as the reason that no further concerts in his home country are likely to be on his horizon.

The news follows a publicized spat with his most recent label, Harvest, and the singer has offered up the following statement [via fansite True to You]:

There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience ... throughout 28 years ... but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine ...

After the supposed final UK shows this weekend, Morrissey will tour throughout the rest of Europe before heading to South America later this year. You can see his full upcoming live schedule here.
