Morrissey isn't one to keep his political opinions to himself. Just recently, in fact, he denounced Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, calling the royal family "the most overpaid and most utterly useless people on the planet." Well, it turns out that the former Smiths frontman's scorn isn't reserved for the British royals alone, since he has now lashed out against all world leaders, including Barack Obama.
When queried about social issues by Juice Online, the singer said that his was "preoccupied with Syria," but he quickly widened his scope and opined that "all world leaders are dictatorships." This evidently includes Obama in the U.S., since the singer claimed that the president is "simply a set of teeth, and useless in every other regard."
Although the world was initially swept up by Obama's victory, Morrissey said that "political figures only see the public as electorate, and once anyone is elected they appear to hate the people."
The interview also included several over choice quotes that, in typical Morrissey fashion, are sure to raise some folks' ire. In addition to speculating that he might retire soon, he said, "To be called a celebrity these days is to be called an idiot. David Beckham is a perfect example of a celebrity." Classic Morrissey.

Like many people I'm currently preoccupied with Syria, and at the uselessness of the United Nations... who don't appear to unite any nations. But whether it's Assad in Syria, or the British so-called royals, all world leaders are dictatorships, and from what we've seen in the middle east, they will all not hesitate to turn the tanks onto their own people should anyone question their morality. It's fascinating. It's only my personal view, but I think the age of the president or the prime minister is dead. People everywhere have lost faith in politics, and rightly so.
