Back in 2013, Moon Duo added a third member for a summer tour. The shows went so well that they asked an engineer to record the trip's Italian leg, and this has now spawned Live in Ravenna, which will be out on August 19 through Sacred Bones.
During the set, core members Sanae Yamada and Ripley Johnson were joined by drummer John Jeffrey. "Ravenna was memorable for a number of reasons, the most prominent being the really very intense heat, and the setting — Hanabi has an outdoor stage on the beach, the Adriatic Sea only meters away," Yamada said in a statement. "The show that night, and the recording of it, sort of encapsulates everything that was happening at the time — the heat wave, the journey, and the shift in the energy and composition of the band."
Live in Ravenna will be released in a onetime-only vinyl pressing of 2,000. It will also be available digitally. The six-song tracklist is below. At the bottom of this page, watch a live video of Moon Duo performing "In the Sun" at a different show on the 2013 European tour.
Also below, check out the band's summer and fall tour schedule. It will take them to Europe, and then through North America with the Horrors. It includes Canadian stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
