Mogwai Get Their Own Custom Skateboards

Looking for a new skateboard but not totally sold on those new Daft Punk decks? Then you might be interested to know that Scottish post-rock vets Mogwai have become the latest act to get their very own boards.

This is a collaboration with Edinburgh skate shop Focus, and it's timed as a celebration of the band's 20th anniversary. The decks cost £49.95 ($95.06 CAD) apiece and — as you can see from the image above — incorporate pre-existing Mogwai artwork. From each deck sold, £5 ($9.52 CAD) goes towards Glasgow's GUSM74 skate park project. The line also includes T-shirts.

In a statement, Sibs Roberts of Focus said, "We reached our 14th year in business last month, and each year we like to mark it with something special that we can look back on with pride: this project with Mogwai definitely fulfils that criteria. Being a fan of Mogwai's music and knowing [guitarist] Stuart [Braithwaite]'s love of skateboarding, I suggested the idea over a number of off the cuff emails, and here we are. Hopefully people will be as stoked on this as we are."

These decks and shirts will be available from the online shops of both Mogwai and Focus, in addition to in-store in Edinburgh.

Previously, Focus has used Mogwai's music in a skate video.
