Milo McMahon

"Caveman"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 25, 2015

Transplanted Irish troubadour Milo McMahon is gearing up to release his latest EP Who I Knew this summer, but before the full four-song offering arrives, Exclaim! has got the premiere of his latest single "Caveman."

Born and raised in Dublin, McMahon moved to Toronto five years ago to focus on his music career and has since settled in Montreal. Now, he's ready to build on the success of his debut LP Big City Hustle and follow-up EP Gone Too Long with Who I Knew.

"The songs blend aspects of alt folk, surf core, and what my treeplanting buddies call screef rock," said McMahon in a statement about the new material. He drew inspiration for the tracks from his "transatlantic upbringing — from my early years in Ireland to my summers plugging trees in northern Canada."

The eclectic concoction of genres mix with McMahon's personal experiences from the great outdoors on "Caveman." It's a catchy, melody-propelled psych-folk jam, and you can give it a spin in the player below.

Who I Knew is out on July 14.
