Canadian indie favourites Metric have been laying low for a while, after releasing Synthetica back in 2012, but the Toronto band are back with a new single called "The Shade."
It follows the previously released song "The Fatal Gift," which was an unfinished, piano-accompanied tune that frontwoman Emily Haines noted, "doesn't really sound at all like anything else we're doing and stands alone."
On "The Shade," though, Metric return with fervour to their synth-heavy, polished pop sound. Keeping with the '80s vibe of the track, the accompanying artwork features a twinkling cassette and some retro lettering.
While all the details of a forthcoming release haven't been revealed, we do know it will arrive in September and be up for pre-order on June 2. For now, though, give "The Shade" a listen in the player below.
