Megan Bonnell Signs with MapleMusic for Sophomore Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 1, 2015

Piano-focused Toronto songwriter Megan Bonnell issued her last couple of releases — 2011's Maps EP and 2013's Hunt and Chase LP — through Nevado Records. Now, she has switched over to another Canadian indie label for her next effort, as she has signed with MapleMusic Recordings.

A press release confirms that Bonnell is now a part of the MapleMusic roster. Although the details of her debut release for the label haven't yet been confirmed, we can expect Bonnell's sophomore full-length to arrive in 2016. Back in February, the singer posted a series of photos from the studio on Facebook, revealing that Justin Rutledge was part of the sessions.

MapleMusic advised fans to "expect a breathtaking assembly of fetching tunes that will be infectious and haunting." As for Bonnell, she wrote on Facebook, "Today is one of my proudest moments in music so far. I get to announce that I have signed to MapleMusic Recordings. Maple is home to some of my all time favourite musicians such as Martha Wainwright, Kathleen Edwards, Alabama Shakes and Radiohead. I am honoured to be a part of this wonderful group of inspired people and cannot wait to release my upcoming album with them. Here we go!"

Stay tuned for an announcement about the album and a coinciding tour. In the meantime, revisit Bonnell's 2014 appearance on Exclaim! TV by watching her perform the Hunt and Chase track "I Found You" below.
