Meek Mill Pens Essay About His Son for Father's Day

This Sunday (June 21) is Father's Day, and as we head into the weekend, Philly rapper Meek Mill has shared his thoughts on fatherhood by writing an op-ed for Time about his relationship with his young son.

In the deeply personal essay, Mill explained that his own father died when he was young. And while he credits his mom for raising him and his sister alone, he acknowledges that it was impossible for her to fulfill the void of growing up without a father.

"I still miss my dad, and I always will," he wrote. "Growing up without a father made me realize just how special time is with my son and how much of an impact I can have on his life."

Many musicians will be able to relate to Mill's thoughts, particularly since he reflects on the time he has to spend away from his son while on tour. He wrote, "After spending time away from him, one of my favorite things to do is get on my four wheeler with my little man in tow. Picture us riding around my neighbourhood waving at all my neighbours. My son is fearless on his bike. Those are the moments I think about when I'm on the road." On the bright side, Mill earns enough money that he's able to provide for his family.

It's a touching and thoughtful essay to think about this Father's Day. Read it here.
