Matthew Dear

"Earthforms" (video)

Now that Matthew Dear's Beams has been out for the better part of a month, fans of the dark pop auteur are probably more than familiar with the "manic punk pulse" of album highlight and recent single "Earthforms." Even so, the musician has just unveiled a disorienting vid with even more twists and turns than the song itself.

The Morgan Beringer-directed clip has a Vaseline-splattered lens shakily stirring about a idyllic forest scene, marching down woody corridors and up some mighty trunks towards the sun. Despite the serene setting, the ever-shifting morph-technology utilized in the video makes for a bit of a dizzying outing. If you're prone to motion sickness, you might not want to watch this after scarfing down a chili cheese dog.

As previously reported, Dear will hit the road this fall, with stops in Montreal and Toronto scheduled in November. You can catch the details here.
