A year following the release of Masaki Batoh's meditative BPM machine experiment Brain Pulse Music, the Ghost leader will be taking his avant-garde piece around North America for a series of sound installations.
A press release from Drag City, who issued the LP early in 2012, confirms that Batoh will make his way overseas later this month, kicking off the tour in Boulder, CO. Along the way, he'll stop in Canada for performances in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg. You can catch the details down below.
Brain Pulse Music features tracks put together using "an experimental bio-electric procedure that uses electronic and musical processes developed by Batoh to reconcile the spirit and the body." While certain tracks were composed during therapeutic sessions conducted by Batoh, using brain waves manipulated by an effects pedal, other tracks homed in on folk textures via the use of traditional Japanese instruments.
