Martha and the Muffins' Martha Johnson Announces Solo Album, Shares New Video

Best known as the namesake for Martha and the Muffins, Canadian new wave songstress Martha Johnson is branching out on her own to deliver a new solo album. The record is called Solo One and marks her first solo release intended for adults (she released a children's album called Songs from the Treehouse in 1997).

According to a press release, Johnson is "counting on this solo project to take her and her audience to some exciting new destinations." Ten percent of proceeds from the project will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, a charity that's close to home for Johnson, as she too suffers from Parkinson's disease.

Lead single and album opener "See Saw Eyes" was co-written by Ron Sexsmith. It includes performances from her Muffins bandmate Mark Gane, along with Will Whitwham and Wes McClintock of Wilderness of Manitoba, and percussionist Ray Dillard. The song has a brand new music video, which can be streamed below.

Solo One will be available on June 26 via Johnson's own Muffin Music imprint. There will also be a release show at the Rivoli in Toronto on June 25.

Solo One:

1. See Saw Eyes
2. Down On The Street
3. Bye Bye Love
4. Show Me How
5. My Reverie
6. I Wouldn't Change A Day
7. I Shouldn't Be This Happy
8. Garden Of Stone
9. Coming Through The Green
10. No Man's Land
11. Remembrance Day
