Malcolm Jack Records 50 Different Versions of Debut Album, Premieres New Video

Former Capitol 6 leader Malcolm Jack is re-releasing his solo debut I'm My Own Bewitchment... kind of. Having issued his album in "album-zine" format earlier this year, Jack is putting out a limited-edition series of literally one-of-a-kind cassettes.

With the title being altered to I'm My Own Be, Which Meant?, the Vancouver singer-guitarist has recorded 50 takes of his complete album at his home studio, once for each tape. As such, each tape contains a unique version of the music, as well as individually hand-drawn artwork, though each one will also come with a download for the original version of I'm My Own Bewitchment.

In addition, he has created a new video for the song "Can't Be Prayed To" from his debut. Filmed and produced by Crystal Dorval (a.k.a. White Poppy), the video features Jack staring off despondently into space while calmly strumming his acoustic guitar, his layered image colour saturated in the lo-fi stylings of VHS tape.

Jack will release the cassettes with a show at the China Cloud in Vancouver on September 20, along with live bandmate Colin Cowan, who is also releasing the vinyl version of his album Fall Paths the same night.

Check out the video for "Can't Be Prayed To" below.
