Some 16 years after initially filling our hearts with tuneful tales of love and confusion, Scrabble-loving songsmith Stephin Merritt's landmark Magnetic Fields release 69 Love Songs is about to be pressed back onto vinyl. A six 10-inch box lands November 6 through Merge.
With resale sites currently hocking the original 2010 vinyl pressing of the set for over $400 US, a moderately priced repress may be more enticing for Magnetic Fields fans.
As the Merge blog explains, the six plates of vinyl will be housed in a "sturdy slipcase," and likewise come packaged with a 24-page booklet that includes all of Merritt's little words, as well as liner notes from author Daniel "Lemony Snicket" Handler.
The first batch of 1,000 boxes will spread the records out on two pieces of black wax, two on red, and two on clear vinyl. From there, the set will be available on standard black vinyl.
As its title implies, 69 Love Songs features exactly that. Sadly, the November-timed re-release is less of a knee-slapper than the original vinyl box set's June 6, 2010, release date (or, if you will, 6/9).
