Toronto, ON metallic hardcore outfit Mad Trapper unleash a banger of an album with their debut, Dead Living. The album follows their 2013 EP, Kill Us, Start Anew, and features raw, grinding tracks that captivate and showcase the band's dynamic Converge-meets-Every Time I Die-meets-Napalm Death approach.

At just over 26 minutes, Dead Living starts off with the simple, melodic "Claws," which represents the calm before the storm. Ten intense, chaotic tracks follow, starting with the cacophonous title track. Emphatic guitar and discordant drum work are layered with larynx-shredding vocals throughout "Worst Case Ontario," while "Caved In" pummels with irate aggression. "1/3" features crushing grooves, while the clashing "Rat River" goes from fast and thrashy to slow and sludgy.

Incorporating various tempos and angular tones, Dead Living is expressive and relentlessly brilliant. With zero fillers, the short yet impactful album demonstrates Mad Trapper's penchant for thoughtful, well-composed and executed dissonant music.
