Mad Season

"River of Deceit" (Seattle reunion set)

Layne Staley died in 2002, but that hasn't stopped the late grunge star's former collaborators from teaming up without him. Not only are Alice in Chains back together, but the surviving members of Mad Season got together last night (May 23) at Seattle's Showbox to play one of their old tunes.

Drummer Barrett Martin and guitarist Mike McCready got together to perform Mad Season's "River of Deceit" featuring Jeff Rouse (Alien Crime Syndicate, Duff McKagan's Loaded) and Rick Friel (the Rockfords). The evening was a benefit show for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.

We can't quite call it a proper reunion, since only half of the band is still alive (bassist John Baker Saunders died in 1999), but online rumours indicate that McCready has been busy writing new material for Mad Season and is currently looking to add vocals.

For now, watch the performance of "River of Deceit" below.
