New York-based "future-soul" unit Mad Satta are set to follow up last year's debut album Comfort with a new EP called Break Me Free — and Exclaim! is giving you a chance to give it an early listen before it drops next week.
The eight-piece ensemble create an eclectic blend of funk, reggae and jazz by combining the mesmerizing vocals of frontwoman Joanna Teters with a solid backing of guitars, organ, drums and horns.
The opening title track sets the tone immediately, offering up undeniably funky vibes with a modern twist. "Fleeting" shows off the band's smoother, jazz-infused side, while "I Would" delivers soulful singing and twinkling piano runs over an R&B beat. It wraps up with a throwback to "Simpler Times," bringing together bluesy guitars, melancholy horns and Teters' powerful lower register.
Break Me Free officially arrives on June 30, but you can give the four-song EP an advanced stream in the player below right now.
