Now, he's let loose a vintage, previously unseen video for his classic Before the Dawn Heals Us track "Lower Your Eyelids to Die with the Sun."
A melding of beauty and horror, the video pairs M83's synth serenity with a mixture of vintage car-crash visuals and slow-mo shots of a pair enduring a glass-shattering accident. As the mournful choir vocals hit harder and harder, we see purses, watches and other personal items performing elegiac twists in the air along with their owners, while a trickle of petrol crosses the hood of a car. The existential experience caps with a fireball and a glance at the cosmos, leaving us to ponder what is and what was.
