It took Loop roughly 22 years to get back onstage together and perform at ATP's recent "End of an Era" event, so maybe we should cut the UK shoegazers some slack on missing the projected due date for a reissue of their A Gilded Eternity. While it was initially projected to land in the summer, the double LP will now arrive December 24 through Reactor.
Like an original limited-edition pressing served up in 1990, then via the Situation Two imprint, the upcoming repress has the album's seven tracks spread out across two 12-inch LPs cut at 45 rpm and includes a bonus two-song 7-inch. Working from the remastered tracks utilized in the 2009 CD reissue series, the vinyl redo is being pressed up in a limited run of 3,000 LPs.
A Gilded Eternity was Loop's third and final album before they went on the decades' long hiatus. A press release notes that the distortion-soaked record offered up a series of "hypnotic mantras," with repetition used skillfully "to induce a trance-like state."
