Lindy Vopnfjörd

'Young Waverer' (album stream)

While Major Maker haven't released an album in several years, the band's Lindy Vopnfjörd has kept himself busy with solo works. His latest album is called Young Waverer, and it's due out on February 26 on iTunes and though the songwriter's website. Before the official release, you can stream the whole thing on Exclaim.ca.

The 12-song collection was mixed by John O'Mahony (Metric, Coldplay) at New York's Electric Lady Studios. Contributors include Canadian axe-man Luke Doucet, previous Small Sins frontman Thomas D'Arcy, and Vopnfjörd's Major Maker buddies Ian LeFeuvre, John Obercian and Stephen Krecklo.

A press release notes that the album "is a soaring landscape of stream of consciousness stories about love and loss, alongside unique tales about his upbringing on icy Lake Winnipeg." Much of the material is upbeat roots rock, although "Lover Sister" and "Last One" venture into something more hushed and atmospheric, and "Hearing Voices" has a hint of OK Computer-esque darkness.

Vopnfjörd has a small handful of Ontario shows coming up. See his schedule below, where you'll of course also find Young Waverer.
