Lianne La Havas Announces Sophomore LP 'Blood'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 21, 2015

Soulful UK folk singer Lianne La Havas released her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? to a warm reception back in 2012, and now she's finally ready to follow it up with a second full-length record.

Titled Blood, the new album will arrive on July 31 via Nonesuch/Warner Bros.

According to a press release, the new material was inspired by La Havas' Jamaican and Greek heritage. A trip to Jamaica with her mother fostered family reunions, and a deep engagement with the local culture. As a result, the lyrics on the new record express "the feeling of who you are and where you come from," while the instrumentation takes influence from the "grooves, rhythms and syncopation" of Jamaica's rich musical traditions.

Much of the album was made with legendary dancehall/reggae producer Stephen McGregor, though Blood's first single "Unstoppable" was produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, FKA Twigs), and features the Invisible playing back-up.

"Unstoppable" is available as an instant download for anyone who pre-orders the album via Nonesuch Records over here. The album artwork for Blood is pictured above and you can see the full tracklisting below.
