Rumours about a series of reissues from Led Zeppelin have been circulating for well over a year, but it looks like this will finally became a reality in 2014. Expanded and remastered versions of some of the band's classic LPs are due to drop soon, according to guitarist Jimmy Page.
Ultimate Classic Rock reports that Page confirmed the plan on his members-only website, writing, "The first of the Led Zeppelin reissues — comprising of Led Zeppelin I, Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin III — will be released this year. I've also been working on some of my own material from the archives that will be unleashed in 2014."
It's not clear exactly what will be included in these reissue sets, but Page said back in 2012 that the band's archives include lots of alternate takes and live recordings. "And I'm not just throwing on any old flotsam and jetsam," Page told Rolling Stone in regards to the bonus material. "This will be really substantial stuff."
Around the same time, he told Mojo [via NME] that there would be a box set for each album. Meanwhile, The Australian [via Spin] indicated that street artist Shepard Fairey was designing artwork for the reissues.
