Lapalux Announces Sophomore Album 'Lustmore,' Shares Track

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 28, 2015

UK electronic musician Lapalux managed to win over Flying Lotus, getting signed to FlyLo's Brainfeeder imprint for his 2013 debut Nostalchic. Well, now Lapalux is ready to return with his sophomore record Lustmore.

The new LP will arrive on April 7 via Brainfeeder. According to a press release, the album is "loosely based on the idea of hypnagogia, a sort of limbo between being awake and asleep."

Lapalux's new material was also heavily influenced by old film soundtracks. "I really focused on making this album an imaginary visual experience," he said in a statement. "You can almost see these imaginary movies play in your head when you listen. That's something that I really started to work into my music — the idea of creating imagery and characters, storyline, and emotion."

Those who appreciated Nostalchic can expect similar "woozy, infectious rhythms, enveloping textures and unfamiliarly familiar melodies" on the record, though there was also a conscious effort to push his sound forward.

The first sample of the new music comes to us via lead single "Closure." The track features Szjerdene's unique vocals, blending soul music with an honesty reminiscent of classic folk singers. Her crooning is paired with Lapalux's slow, glitchy, futuristic beat, crafting a chilling electro-soul single that bodes well for the rest of the forthcoming album.
