Kraftwerk's Karl Bartos Prepping New Solo Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 19, 2012

It's been quite a while since we heard any new music from former Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos, but the electronic musician is apparently readying a new full-length solo effort, his first since 2003's Communication.

A press release from Hamburg-based imprint Bureau B confirms that Bartos has been added to its roster, with plans to issue an as-yet-untitled album by spring 2013. Details are pretty slim, but the label explained that Bartos is "in the studio working in high speed on the very last tracks for the album."

The solo musician was rather mum about the affair as well, delivering the following curt and efficient statement about the singing: "Yes, Bureau B is in play. I'm looking forward to the release with anticipation."

While Bartos wasn't a founding member of Kraftwerk, he quickly joined the group after their formation and performed with the iconic electronic troupe from 1975 to 1990, contributing to classics like Trans-Europe Express, The Man-Machine and Computer World. His last release was the "Camera Obscura" single from 2004.
