Kiss to Appear in Scooby-Doo Animated Film, Contribute New Song

Nearly four decades after Kiss released their catastrophically hilarious TV film Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, the face-painted rock gods have announced they're set to appear in another amusement park-themed movie. Titled Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery, it finds an animated version of the band investigating some spooky biz alongside Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of the gang.

The film is being released on Blu-ray and DVD on July 10 through Warner Home Entertainment and has band members Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer voicing their own characters. The animated adventure also features voice work from Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Hootie & the Blowfish's Darius Rucker, Garry Marshall, Penny Marshall, Jennifer Carpenter and Pauley Perrette.

The movie is said to take place during a Halloween concert at the group's fictional Kiss World, but the theme park is haunted by the Crimson Witch. It's unclear if the park is situated in Detroit Rock City, but there are a number of Kiss-themed elements to the story.

For instance, the Crimson Witch is trying to summon an evil and powerful figure called the Destroyer from the Kissteria dimension. Also, It might just be us, but the roller-coaster that can be seen behind the band in the picture above kind of looks like the pinwheel artwork of 1976's Rock and Roll Over.

The film is expected to feature six classic Kiss tracks, as well as an as-yet-undetailed new tune. A trailer features snippets of "Shout It out Loud" and "I Was Made for Lovin' You," as well as an armpit solo from the interminably hungry stoner pastiche, Norville "Shaggy" Rogers.

You can see the clip, full of sight gags and sassy, Snagglepuss-styled lines from master thespian Paul Stanley, down below.

This isn't the first time Kiss have met up with Scooby-Doo and co. The band also appeared in a 2003 episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo? that also took place at Halloween. It begs the question, what are the band up to the rest of the year? The short answer is, of course, saving Santa.
