Kiss may have decided not to shoot off their love guns at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction next month, but the long-running rockers will be rock and rolling practically every night this summer on an upcoming tour with Def Leppard.
The trip was announced today (March 17), with the bands confirming they will be travelling around North America together in the summer months. While the trip is almost entirely taking place beneath the border, there is one Canadian gig on the schedule, which takes place at Toronto's Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on August 12.
"You have two bands who to one degree or another have stood the test of time and put them together and you'll have a great night of music," Kiss vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley said in a statement of the longevity of the respective acts. "We're living in a time now where everyone wants more for their money, and that's understandable. So, when you can get two bands to collaborate together, we couldn't pick a better band for this tour than Def Leppard to go out with us."
If you had your heart set on some sort of onstage collabo between the bands, Def Leppard six-stringer Joe Elliott is letting you know not to get your hopes up. Since the bands approach their stage shows much differently, there's apparently no way for the two to cobble together a wacky, themed medley running from Def Leppard's "Animal" into something off of Kiss's "Animalize," nor will anybody be pouring sugar all over Beth or Christine Sixteen.
"We're not jam bands either of us," Elliott said. "It's very theatrical what Kiss does to a lesser extent obviously 'cause we don't do the makeup thing, our show runs like a military operation for sure. It's not like the Grateful Dead and Phish touring or something."
