Vancity DJ/producer K-Rec is dropping a new EP called The Hit-Pop Remixes, and you can stream it first right here on Exclaim.ca.
He recently shared a Radiohead remix of Ciara's "Body Party," but she's not the only soul-pop diva that gets reworked on the new EP. K-Rec also re-envisions tracks from Rihanna, Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, in addition to Next's early 2000s R&B jam "Wifey."
He removes some of the bombast that the pop divas are known for and replaces it with ambient, synthesized sounds, giving the classic tunes entirely new makeovers. The new set of tunes marks the follow-up to this summer's Third Beach.
You can stream The Hit-Pop Remixes below.
