Josh Freese to Join Weezer on Tour Instead of A Perfect Circle

Drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese has pounded the skins for countless acts over the years, from Devo to Guns N' Roses to the Vandals. Having just announced a string of tour dates, it would only be natural to assume that the percussionist would be resuming his longtime tenure with gloomy rockers A Perfect Circle. Unfortunately, that just isn't the case. Freese has announced that he will have to bow out of the tour, as he already has commitments to tour with Weezer.

Though Freese has been with A Perfect Circle since the start, Weezer's conflicting tour itinerary had already been set by the time APC announced their dates. Regrettably, he can't do both tours.

"I've been looking forward to APC reforming for years now and the timing just couldn't have been worse," Freese posted on his website. "I'd already committed the time to Weezer and I am a man of my word. As much as I hate to have to miss the APC tour there wasn't a whole lot I could do about it. I've never apologized to fans of a band for not being able to be there for something so I'll take this opportunity to do it here. I'm sorry that I'm not going to be there with APC this summer. I've missed other tours with other bands over the years but this one has been the toughest pill to swallow."

Freese joined up with the Weezer nation so that former skinsman Pat Wilson could shine on guitar. It seems as if the whole thing could be solved if Wilson went back behind the kit, but it's admirable that Freese is willing to stick to his commitments. For the record, there are no bad feelings between Freese and the rest of A Perfect Circle. There's even a possibility he'll link up with his old buddies further down the road.

"Yes, they're bummed but no, they don't hold it against me and all is well with us," Freese said of the situation. "Hope to see you guys out at a show sometime either later this year or in 2012......ya never know."
