John Lennon's personal letters are already available as an iPad app, and now the late Beatles great is having his life chronicled with another one. John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes will launch through iTunes on November 5.
The app will explore Lennon's trip to Bermuda in 1980. During this time, Billboard notes that Lennon collaborated with his wife Yoko Ono from afar and worked on material that appeared on their album Double Fantasy from that year.
The app includes Lennon's demos of songs like "Woman," "Starting Over," "I'm Losing You," "(Just Like) Starting Over," "Nobody Told Me" and "Dear Yoko." It was directed by filmmaker Michael Epstein, with co-direction provided by digital artist Mark Thompson.
"Writing Double Fantasy was a very exciting time creatively for both John and me," Ono said in a statement. "I think the album app captures the sense of discovery and the artistic dialogue that John and I shared at that time and provides a new way to help us imagine a world without hunger."
All proceeds from the app will go to WhyHunger's "Imagine There's No Hunger" campaign. The Hard Rock Cafe will release a line of merch to go along with the project.
