Last year, Weakerthans frontman John K. Samson included a song called "www.ipetitions.com/petition/rivertonrifle/"on his solo album, Provincial. This song made a case for Reggie Leach to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and now Samson has unveiled a short film called We, The Undersigned about the campaign.
In the 13-minute film by Tim Thompson, a heavily bearded Samson talks about his online petition and his fondness for Leach. The film culminates in the songwriter and some friends performing the song in front of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto before submitting the finished petition. This rendition took place on February 23 of this year, and Samson notes that this is the last time the song will be performed.
There's even a brief interview with Leach. However, there's still no word as to whether he will be inducted into the Hall.
