John Frusciante Returns with New Solo EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 22, 2012

John Frusciante has been curiously quiet since leaving the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2010, and reports that he is working on new material haven't resulted in any official solo releases, or at least until now. This summer, the guitarist will release a new EP.

According to fan site Invisible Movement [via Consequence of Sound], Frusciante will put out the curiously titled EP Letur-Lefr on July 9 through Record Collection Music. It will be available in a variety of formats, including cassette.

The EP reportedly includes five songs and artwork created by Frusciante himself. Expect more details to be confirmed before long.

Letur-Lefr will be Frusciante's first official solo release since his 2009 album The Empyrean, which came out close to a year before he announced his departure from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. There's no word as to whether this EP will include any of his material recorded with R&B singer Truth Hurts.
