After decades of directing films and releasing scores, horror icon John Carpenter launched his musical career properly this past winter with the release of his first proper album, Lost Themes. Now that he's broken the ice, he has shed light on his upcoming plans.
In a Facebook comment posted yesterday (August 3), Carpenter said that he would embark upon a "limited tour" in 2016 in support of Lost Themes. He's talked idly about this in the past, having told Consequence of Sound that he would "love to perform this stuff live." Now, it seems that something is officially in the works.
Even better, Carpenter added that he would be making "a second album." It's not clear when it will be out, but the implication seemed to be that it would arrive in 2016.
In the meantime, Carpenter has teamed up with French electronic artist Jean-Michel Jarre for a song called "A Question of Blood." This will appear on Jarre's album E-Project, due out on October 16 through Music Affair Entertainment Ltd./Sony Music. While the full song hasn't yet emerged, significant portions of it can be heard in the YouTube player below, along with interview clips with Carpenter and Jarre.
