East Coast icon Joel Plaskett runs his own label called New Scotland Records, and now he's planning to expand his operations by teaming up with a few local businesses to create a unique retail space in his hometown of Dartmouth, NS.

The store is called the New Scotland Yard Emporium, and it finds Plaskett joining forces with music shop Taz Records, bakery Honey & Butter, and barber Elk's Haircutting. Elk's is run by stylist Chris Pennell, who plays bass with the Joel Plaskett Emergency. The store will also be manned by barista Alex Babineau, who will be serving coffee.

The New Scotland Yard Emporium will be located at 45 Portland Street in downtown Dartmouth. This is at the front of the same building in which Plaskett's studio, the New Scotland Yard, has been housed since 2013. Plaskett said in a statement, "Come buy a record, get a coffee and bagel to go, get a little off the top or book some time at the studio and cut a hit track. Music is at the heart of it and all are welcome."

Jimmy Donnelly of Taz Records said, "We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of this unique shop with Joel. We can't wait to start doing business in Dartmouth!"

The grand opening is on October 10. After that, the store will be open every day except Sunday. Get more information about the business at its website.
