BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 21, 2013

Last year, seminal noise-pop vets the Jesus and Mary Chain were chronicled with a book of photography and lyrics. Now, the band are being examined with another tome, this time an authorized biography. Barbed Wire Kisses: The Jesus and Mary Chain Story is due out on October 3 through Polygon (a subsidiary of Birlinn Ltd.).

The 272-page hardcover edition was penned by journalist Zoë Howe, who has previously written books about subjects like the Slits, Florence and the Machine, Dr. Feelgood's Wilko Johnson and British beat music.

According to an announcement from the publisher, "This authorized book is the fierce, frank and funny tale of the Jesus and Mary Chain, told by the band members and their associates for the first time."

It's available to pre-order from Amazon.co.uk.

Meanwhile, the Jesus and Mary Chain were forced to cancel their appearance at Calgary's Sled Island this weekend, due to festival getting cancelled due to extreme flooding in Alberta.
