Jennah Barry

"Me and My Arrow" (Harry Nilsson cover) on Exclaim! TV

Reportedly inspired by an acid trip in which he noticed the pointed detail in trees and houses, Harry Nilsson's The Point! tells the story of Oblio, a round-headed boy in a land where by law everyone and everything has to have a point. Apart from being the man's sixth studio record, the story was later adapted into a musical, as well as an animated film narrated by Nilsson's close friend Ringo Starr. In a recent session for Exclaim! TV, Jennah Barry took one of the story's songs and made it her own.

The East coast songwriter and her two accompanying musicians stopped by the Exclaim! office to play their rendition of "Me and My Arrow," a song from Nilsson's aforementioned release about Oblio and his dog, Arrow.

Barry begins the song's light-hearted refrain with a gentle strum pattern, and is joined soon after by her backing vocalist and banjo player. Her smooth lead vocals gently guide the song through some slight key changes and a banjo solo before the soft vocal harmonies bring the piece to a close.
