Two Toronto film institutions will be coming together next month for filmmaker/artist Jem Cohen's new project, We Have an Anchor, which is co-presented by the Images Festival and TIFF. Taking place on December 4 and 5, this Exclaim!-sponsored event will feature a live score from some stellar musicians.

We Have an Anchor is composed of a decade's worth of footage shot in Nova Scotia combined with poems, newspaper clippings, scientific research and more. Cohen's triple-projected visuals will be accompanied by a live score performed by Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), Jim White (Dirty Three), T. Griffin (the Quavers), Efrim Menuck (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra), Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra), and guest vocalist Mary Margaret O'Hara.

The 85-minute combined screenings will take place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Advance tickets cost $30, while day-of tickets are $40 and VIP Tickets are $50 (and include a meet-and-greet with the filmmaker and musicians). You can buy tickets from the Images Festival store.

Watch a five-minute preview below. This will give you some idea of what both the film and live score will offer.
