Jason Collett to Make Theatrical Debut in Toronto Production of \'Cowboy Mouth\'
Jason Collett is spending December playing shows as part of his annual Basement Revue Series in Toronto, but once the holiday season is over, the Canadian songwriter will be shifting his attention to an entirely different sort of project: acting in a play.

In January and February, Collett will star in Heart in Hand Theatre's staging of Cowboy Mouth at the Cameron House in Toronto. The play was written by Sam Shepard and Patti Smith in 1971. The official synopsis is as follows: "Cowboy Mouth tells the tale of Slim, a cat who looks like a coyote, who is kidnapped by Cavale, a chick who looks like a crow. She dreams of making him a 'rock-and-roll Jesus with a cowboy mouth.'"

Collett will play Slim, while Jessica Huras will take on the role of Cavale. This is Collett's theatrical debut.

There will be preview performances on January 25, 26 and 27. The play's official run will feature 12 performances between January 30 and February 14. Tickets go on sale starting in January. Get more information here.

Collett's latest album, Reckon, came out back in September. Just last month, he released an accompanying iBook, titled Reckon: Uncover the Album, for free. It includes interviews, acoustic performances, lyrics, anecdotes and more. Fans with an iPad can get it from iTunes.
