Japandroids Prepping 'Celebration Rock' LP for June Release
An interview with Pitchfork had guitarist/vocalist Brian King explaining that, like their past work, the new album is a relatively basic affair, with songs consisting of "one drum take, one guitar take, and then us singing over top."
"There's nothing fancy about it," he admitted. "Our band sounds best when we essentially capture this live energy, and there are no studio tricks to get to that level of passion when you're actually playing the song."
A full tracklisting has yet to be revealed, but the eight-song outing, tracked by producer/engineer Jesse Gander [Bison B.C., the Pack A.D.] at Burnaby, BC recording studio the Hive, will include the previously released "Younger Us," as well as a cover of Gun Club's "For the Love of Ivy." It was previously reported that new songs that may pop up on the platter include "Fire's Highway," "Adrenaline Nightshift" and "Evil's Sway."
