The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its longlist of possible inductees for 2016, and Janet Jackson, N.W.A., the Smiths and Nine Inch Nails are among this year's nominees.

Rounding out the list are Chic, Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, the Cars, Chaka Khan, the JB's, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, the Spinners and Yes.

Last year saw Green Day, Lou Reed, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bill Withers and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band awarded the coveted commemoration. N.W.A., the Smiths, Nine Inch Nails and Chic were all nominated last year, but are still vying for validation from this year's ceremony.

Fans can vote for their top choice over here, with the top five fan-selected artists making up a ballot that will be tallied along with the other tabs from an international voting body. The successful inductees will be announced in December.
