Jane's Addiction Give Away Trent Reznor-Produced Songs, Say Not To Expect New Album

As we suspected, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has been producing tracks for Jane's Addiction. In fact, starting today (March 20) at the tour-mates' new website, ninja2009.com, you can freely download two new Reznor-helmed Jane's tracks, "Chip Away" and "Whores," both of which originally appeared on the group's 1987 self-titled live album and have now been re-recorded for a new digital EP.

"Just to get some creative juice flowing, we went into the studio for about two weeks," Jane's front-man Perry Farrell told Billboard. "We had the idea to re-record two tunes, just because they'd never been done officially in the studio. And we had some fun writing some new things. A handful that are close to finished, but not quite done. But there's no rush to put anything out at this point."

However, if you think this will lead to an entire new Jane's Addiction album with Reznor producing, that seems unlikely. When asked if fans could expect such a new record, Farrell replied, "I don't think so. For me, the idea is to introduce one or two songs into this touring cycle along with the ones everybody loves and knows."

Along with the new Jane's addiction recordings, the new downloadable tour sampler features the previously unreleased NIN's songs "Not So Pretty Now" and "Non-Entity," as well as a pair of tracks from tour openers Street Sweeper, the new project by Rage Against the Machines guitarist Tom Morello and the Coup's Boots Riley.
