James Burrows

"Disco" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 15, 2015

Toronto-based roots rocker James Burrows is set to deliver his Paradise Cinema LP this spring, but he's teasing the upcoming release with a video for his new single "Disco," and you can check it out on Exclaim.ca.

The album was recorded at Brooklyn's Galaxy Smith Studios and has been described as "similar to the early Blue Rodeo with the storytelling sensibility and delivery of a young Bruce Springsteen."

Those might seems like big shoes to fill, but Burrows handles the pressure just fine on "Disco." Stripping away the glitz that the title implies, the track is an attention-grabbing folk-rocker that implores the listener to "take me down to the disco."

The clip itself is a mix of old photographs and modern-day shots of the streets of Toronto, with Burrows and a couple of lovely ladies providing performance shots underneath some neat visual manipulation.

You can see Burrows' upcoming gigs listed below, and if you scroll past those, you'll be able to catch your first glimpse of the video for "Disco."
