Converse's CONS EP series consists of free EPs made up of collaborative tracks. Following two prior EPs, the shoemakers are now gearing up for CONS EP Vol. 3, and they've begun the rollout with a team-up from Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis and former Sonic Youth member Kim Gordon.
The two veteran alt-rockers link up on "Slow Boy." As one might except from a metting between members of Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth, it's a fiery guitar workout with an arrangement dominated by scorching fuzz. The punk rhythms are buried deep in the mix while Gordon unleashes hellfire with her snarling, shrieking lead vocals. The song was produced by Mascis.
