Ital and Hieroglyphic Being Team Up as Interplanetary Prophets

Though his Ital project saw Daniel Martin-McCormick step out as a solo act from his previous work in Mi Ami and Black Eyes, he hasn't entirely abandoned the collaborative spirit. Instead, he's teamed up with fellow dance experimenter Hieroglyphic Being to form Interplanetary Prophets.

The duo first met up in Krakow, Poland, where they performed a collaborative set together at Unsound. Now, they've convened in the studio and pieced together three tracks that comprise their debut EP Zero Hour.

A press release promises "three long, dense pieces," adding that they "mirror the intention and seriousness of post-punk electronic bands such as Ike Yard or Monoton" through experimentation with "popping drums," "whooshing atmosphere" and "slabs of synth."

The write-up adds that "These are tracks that mirror their creators, carving techno into new shapes with a nod to the past and a foot in the future."

Zero Hour will be available from Planet Mu on July 15. All three songs can be previewed here.

Zero Hour:
