While High on Fire fans will have to wait until sometime in 2015 for the group to issue their "sonically huge" follow-up to De Vermis Mysteriis, there's a chance the riff-blazing metal vets could bust out some new tunes on their upcoming North American tour.
The band are currently out on the road in Europe, but make their return to their home continent early next month. First up will be a series of dates as part of the "Converse Rubber Tracks Tour," which will find the act playing a series of free ticketed concerts. This includes a stop at Toronto's Adelaide Hall on August 14. Once that wraps, they'll play some more festival and club dates down in the U.S.
You can sign up for free tickets to the Toronto show here, and find all of the band's concert info down below.
As for the new LP, it had been previously revealed that High on Fire had begun writing sessions in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Oakland this past spring, with drummer Des Kensel having suggested that it'll sound something like "Sabbath's Master of Reality [played] backwards at 78 RPM."
"Des, Jeff [Matz, bass] and I are really getting creative and writing a hell of a new record," guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike had added in a statement. "It's a crazy project and I can't really explain what it's all about just yet, but we've been writing a lot of crazy intense material that will up the ante, and bring things to another level."
