After previously issuing a pair of solo mixtapes, rapper Heems is about to kick off his post-Das Racist career proper via his first full-length solo album. The New York rhymer will reveal his biggest statement yet, Eat, Pray, Thug, on March 10 through Greedhead/Megaforce.
A press release explains that Heems' upcoming solo effort was written and recorded in Brooklyn and Bombay. A three-day trip to India found the MC hitting up the recording studio belonging to producers/film scorers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. While tracklisting details have not been coughed up just yet, the record also features musical contributions from Blood Orange's Dev Hynes and Rafiq Bhatia, and features beats cooked up by Harry Fraud, Gordon Voidwell, Boody B and more.
The album follows Heems' Wild Water Kingdom and Nehru Jackets mixtapes from 2012, and is said to analyze the personal and the political. The record apparently weighs in on "the highs and lows of the music business, failed relationships, racism, the working class struggle," and tackles themes of "substance abuse, anxiety and depression."
Down below, you'll find a stream of first single "Sometimes." A pre-order for the set goes live on iTunes on January 13.
