HEALTH Sign On to Score New 'Max Payne' Videogame

HEALTH haven't released a proper LP since 2009's Get Colour, but while the Los Angeles noisemakers have yet to announce the official follow-up, they will be tiding fans over by releasing some new music in the form of the score for the upcoming videogame Max Payne 3.

The game, which comes out on May 15, is made by Rockstar Games, the same developers behind the Grand Theft Auto series (plus others games like Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire).

UPDATE: HEALTH's soundtrack is due out May 23.

In a press release, the band said this of the project: "Videogames are redefining entertainment and whether people like it or not, they are becoming as culturally relevant as films. We feel that Rockstar's projects have an undeniably raw and tasteful aesthetic. It's vitally important to us that we be involved in things we respect artistically. Max Payne 3 has a complex story that unfolds mercilessly and we are excited to be a part of it."

The game stars the titular character, May Payne, an ex-cop who now works security for Brazilian industrialist Rodrigo Branco. The plot centres on the kidnapping of Branco's wife Fabiana. Rockstar's soundtrack supervisor Ivan Pavlovich said that HEALTH have "brought a distinct energy and atmosphere to the game that perfectly fits Max's dark story. "
