There really are two demographics that like Hatebreed: the hardcore fans who appreciate their earlier material and the sang-about diehard fans who really don't discern. Unfortunately for the former crowd, whose attendance at Heavy Montreal seemed minimal given the raucous response, the focus wasn't on their defining work. The first five songs went by with not a note that was put to tape prior to 2006, making it an act of "Perseverance" waiting for that song, which ended the hardcore draught.

Unfortunately, the momentum was killed at this point, so despite being followed by "This Is Now" and Live For This," everything felt a bit lacklustre. It's a shame, because the band were tight and lively, as "Proven" by their performance of that track, but were dragged down by the deadweight in the songs. Still, it didn't seem many people noticed, as they bounced around and a girl even took off her shirt and bra, but those who have seen Hatebreed before knew they could do better.
